Who Are We and Where Are We Going?
Thank you for taking a moment to read about us. It is hard to describe who we really are in this article but we will attempt to give you a snapshot. We hope you will be able to see our hearts and a little of what God is doing in our lives.
County Line has had some challenges in the last few years that have caused us to step back and take a hard look at where we are and what God wants us to be. With a lot of prayer and many meetings the body of County Line asked us, Wyatt and Joy Smith, to be the Pastor and wife team to lead them in this next era. We started here in April and together as God’s people we are seeking His direction. We know we need to make some serious changes if we are going to be a force for God’s Kingdom in 2010 and beyond.
So who are we? We are real people just like you. We have financial challenges relationship challenges health challenges and spiritual challenges. We are people who have made mistakes and admit we are in need of help. We are people who want to learn what it means to be the church of Jesus Christ in 2010. We are not content with the status quo because it isn’t working. We are a people that want to be a blessing to our community because God has blessed us. We are people who believe that every human being is made in the image of God yet separated from God because of Adam’s sin in the garden. We believe God, our creator, pursues us so much so that He left heaven and became one of us, to redeem us and to convince us of His desire to restore relationship with us.
Who do we want to be? I realize this is different for every person and I (Pastor Wyatt) am writing this for the rest of our people but this is what I sense from so many of us. We want to be people who are real and act like true followers of Jesus. We want to be people who practice both sharing grace and sharing the truth. We want to be a people who give to the community in which we live. We realize that for too many years we have been more concerned with what happens inside our walls than what happens outside our walls. The head of our church is Jesus. Jesus left the security of heaven to pursue mankind (us). He became one of us so He could understand us. This is the best example of what we want to be. We want to be where our friends and neighbors are. We want to help where we can help. That is why we have a food bank and an afterschool program that gives kids a place to stay until Mom or Dad can pick them up. We are working on other ways to be a blessing to the LaVille schools and our area. Things are tough and we continue to face difficult days. We can’t do everything that needs to be done in the community but we will do something.
So what can we offer you?
One of the greatest gifts we have to give is HOPE. We believe that Jesus Christ is our greatest hope and He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. We can also pray. It could be that you are reading this because you need help. You need answers. If you want us to pray for you we will. You don’t even have to share your name. God knows you and he will hear our prayers for you. Just send us an email and we will pray. Please let us know how God answers because He will.
We can also offer you a place to belong. We all need support and encouragement. We all need to know that we are fully loved, fully accepted, and fully forgiven. We are people in process and we don’t have it all together. I am sure we will fail each other at some point and disappoint you in other ways. But one thing is for sure we will do our best to follow God’s directives as laid out in His Word (the Bible).
God has blessed us! How can we be a blessing to you?
